Too Close

Once I stepped into Mong Kok’s Tung Choi Street North, otherwise famed as the Goldfish Market, my initial fascination with the number of shops and types of fish quickly switched to the eye-catching hanging balls of transparent bags displayed by many vendors. Each bag contained a fish with a markered price and it was packed to go. Saying buyers were spoilt for choice was an understatement. But I felt that convenience came at the expense of the fish having to be put in their micro apartments, parallel to something which is much written about tight living spaces in Hong Kong.
